About Heather
Every day I am able to say that I love my job and am incredibly happy to be doing what I do. I started working in the fitness industry in 1994 while at the University of Guelph studying Human Kinetics. I am fortunate to have been active my whole life. I am also fortunate to realize that the love of being active is not universal. My philosophy is to motivate, coach and inspire my clients to embrace physical activity. My goal is to get all my clients to the point that they actually like to exercise – feel their muscles, see their strength and experience the amazing feeling of endurance. Working with clients to set personal goals, and helping them navigate a path toward realizing these goals is a very rewarding. I get excited when I can challenge and push clients when they are ready to do so. I also understand and can empathize when clients are tired, sore or stressed and we need to modify our plan.
I have two beautiful children and a wonderful husband. Before they came along I spent hours on my bike and before that I spent hours in the pool. I have raced in and won two 24 hour solo mountain bike races. I still love riding and racing my bike, but my life has changed and I now need to be smarter and more efficient with my time and my training. I have learned how to balance my life and realize how important it is to do so. Through my experiences I now have a much better understanding of how to coach my clients to achieve a healthy balance in their own lives.
Exercise is one of the most important things we need to do to have a great life but it isn’t always easy to fit it in. I am here to help you, that is what I do, help you have a better life by teaching you how to exercise, how to incorporate it into your schedule, how to modify it when needed, how to push more when you are ready, how to set achievable goals and stay focused on them and most importantly how to enjoy the journey.
Whether it is with me, by yourself or with friends, get out there and get active. Your mind and body will thank you.
